Tripura's bamboo industry is turning into one of the engines of economic development and sustainable growth. Abundantly blessed with bamboo resources, the state has realized the potential through programs like the Tripura Bamboo Mission (TBM) to enhance livelihoods, provide environmentally sustainable products, and enhance industrial production. TBM interventions have driven the sector's turnover from ₹27.9 crore in 2007 to ₹200 crore by 2017, promoting entrepreneurship and enhancing rural livelihoods, especially women and minorities. Recent partnerships, including Maharashtra's knowledge partnership with TBM, have been initiated to seek bamboo's environmental value addition, from groundwater recharge to controlling soil erosion. Bamboo-based industry generates employment, reduces poverty, and increases export incomes, besides fostering green energy alternatives.
