Bengaluru Man Wins Case Against PVR for Excessive Pre-Movie Ads

A Bengaluru consumer court has ruled in favor of a moviegoer who sued PVR Cinemas for wasting his time with lengthy advertisements before a film. The court ordered PVR and INOX to mention actual movie start times on tickets and limit pre-show ads to 10 minutes of government-mandated PSAs. The complainant, Abhishek MR, was awarded ₹20,000 for mental agony and ₹8,000 for litigation costs. Additionally, PVR and INOX were fined ₹1 lakh as punitive damages. The ruling emphasizes that busy people shouldn't be forced to watch unnecessary advertisements and sets a precedent for consumer rights in the cinema industry.
