Bharti Telecom Strengthens Hold on Airtel: Stake Rises to 40.47%

Bharti Telecom Ltd (BTL), the main promoter of Bharti Airtel, has increased its stake in the telecom giant from 40.27% to 40.47%. This strategic move follows a block deal where Indian Continent Investment Ltd (ICIL), another promoter entity, sold a 0.84% stake (5.11 crore shares) for Rs 8,485.11 crore. BTL acquired 1.20 crore shares from this sale, reinforcing its position as the principal controlling vehicle for Airtel. The transaction attracted global and domestic investors, including marquee names. This stake consolidation aligns with BTL's stated intent of gradually increasing its holding while maintaining a prudent leverage profile.
