Bihar's Big Push: ₹2 Lakh Assistance for 2.01 Lakh Families in Historic Move
In a significant move to support families affected by Bihar's prohibition policy, the state government has provided financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each to 2.01 lakh families. This initiative is part of the sustained livelihood scheme aimed at helping those who previously relied on the liquor trade for income. Bihar Rural Development Minister Shrawan Kumar announced this during the state assembly's budget discussion for FY 2025-26. The scheme supports families in launching their own ventures, ensuring a stable income source. Additionally, Bihar has created over 10.63 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) under the "Jeevika" program to empower women economically. The state also offers assistance to landless families for purchasing land to build homes.
