Building Bridges, Not Walls: BRICS Champions Multipolarity!

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stressed the importance of BRICS in creating a multipolar world order in a recent parliament session. He said the grouping, which has grown in size over the years, provides an arena where member states can work together on shared issues and set global agenda. Jaishankar spoke about fears of the disintegration of BRICS in the wake of tariff threats from the U.S., saying that the group is still committed to strengthening multilateralism and tackling global issues like climate change, security, and economic development.

 

He added that BRICS represents the different positions of its members, who are on different levels of development, and seeks to foster a more pluralistic global leadership. The minister reaffirmed that this adherence to multipolarity is necessary to properly represent the Global South's interests.
