Daimler Truck CEO Seeks Higher India Output

Daimler Truck's CEO is mulling increasing production in India, possibly relocating some of the manufacturing from other international locations to India. This would take advantage of India's strategic strengths, such as lower costs of production and a skilled labor force. Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) already has a state-of-the-art plant in Chennai, manufacturing BharatBenz, Mercedes-Benz, and FUSO vehicles. The factory is part of Daimler's global network and supplies more than 40 export markets. Scaling up production in India would make Daimler more competitive and respond to increasing demand in the market while supporting the company's worldwide strategy for flexibility and efficiency.
