Delhi Zoo Mourns Loss of Nilgai and Last Jaguar Due to Natural Causes

Sources state that a nilgai and only jaguar at the Delhi Zoo have died of natural causes owing to complications from old age. Concerns over animal welfare persist at the National Zoological Park. The nilgai had injuries at the time of its death; it was an adult antelope from the Indian subcontinent. The death of the jaguar removes one rare visitor from the zoo. These deaths come after a history of animal deaths and management troubles at the zoo, including previous reports about mysterious deaths and alleged negligence. Zoo authorities insist these deaths are natural because of the age of both animals.
