Delhi's Budget Bonanza: Rs 1 Lakh Crore Vision for a 'Viksit' Capital

In a historic move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled a mammoth Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26, marking a 31.5% increase from the previous year. The BJP government's maiden budget doubles capital expenditure to Rs 28,000 crore, focusing on infrastructure development and welfare schemes. Key allocations include Rs 5,100 crore for the Mahila Samruddhi scheme, Rs 2,144 crore for Ayushman Bharat, and Rs 500 crore for Yamuna cleaning. The budget also introduces 100 Atal Canteens with a Rs 100 crore allocation. CM Gupta emphasized the end of "corruption and inefficiency," promising a transformation towards a "Viksit Delhi" with improved roads, water supply, and healthcare facilities.
