Dollar Dash: RBI's $15 Billion Boost for Forex Reserves

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has completed a string of dollar-rupee swaps successfully, infusing large-scale liquidity into the banking system and strengthening the country's foreign exchange reserves. A recent $10 billion swap auction on February 28 helped augment India's forex kitty by a large margin, which jumped by $15.3 billion to $654 billion. This is the biggest weekly rise since August 2021. The RBI will conduct another $10 billion swap auction on March 24, which will increase liquidity and anchor the rupee. The swaps facilitate liquidity management, currency stabilisation, and support dollar reserves, offering comfort in times of foreign fund withdrawals and market instability.
