Echoes, Windows, and Wonder: Kalakriti Art Gallery Unveils a Meditative Marvel

Kalakriti Art Gallery's recent exhibitions, "Echoes Within" and "Windows to the Gods," have mesmerized art lovers at Bikaner House, New Delhi, with their deep explorations of repetition, ritual, and spirituality.

 

Curated by Ruchi Sharma, "Echoes Within" brings together thirteen contemporary artists who stand in awe of repetition as a meditative, introspective ritual. The exhibition is a journey across various mediums-paper, pigment, thread, canvas-where every mark and fold is ritualistic, dissolving boundaries between the material and the intangible. Artist-participants Ajay Lakhera, Bhaskar Rao Botcha, Divya Pamnani, Dhruti Mahajan, Debiprasad Bhunia, Keerti Pooja, Om Soorya, Rachana Badrakia, Ritesh Bhoi, Sangam Vankhde, Srinivas Pulagam, and Sumanto Chowdhury employ their practice to revisit identity, memory, and transformation. Their work arises from rich, personal narratives layered with time and emotion, subverting conventions, redefining traditions.

 

At the same time, "Windows to the Gods," featuring Rayana Giridhar Gowd and Sachin S Jaltare, explores myth and spirituality, bringing epic narrative into the contemporary era through personalized imagination and vision. The series is a rich tapestry of visual narrative, drawing inspiration from ancient tradition but extending the limits of material and meaning.

 

Together, these shows encourage visitors to become immersed in the resonance of material, memory, and process and to think about the fine balance between presence and absence, solidity and evanescence.
