Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan received a hero's reception in Dublin while he was there to promote the European T20 Premier League (ETPL), an ICC-endorsed championship featuring Irish, Scottish, and Dutch teams. ETPL is one of the major investors who was excited about the prospect of the league raising the level of cricket in Europe. Bachchan traveled to Ireland for their St. Patrick's Day celebrations where he received a warm welcome by Irish fans along with the Indian expat community. Bachchan had also visited the Indian Embassy in Dublin, where he was warmly greeted by Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra. ETPL is hoping to build a following outside the South Asian diaspora, riding on Bachchan's popularity to generate international interest in the event.
