Ayodhya is gearing up for its grand annual Deepotsav festival from October 18 to 20, 2025, aiming to illuminate the sacred city with over 26 lakh diyas along the Sarayu River ghats. Ayodhya, the revered birthplace of Lord Rama, is ready to immerse itself in the divine glow of Deepotsav 2025, celebrated with unmatched fervor and grandeur. This year, the festival seeks to break its own Guinness World Record by lighting more than 26 lakh traditional earthen lamps (diyas) along the ghats of the Sarayu River, transforming the city into a magnificent sea of lights.
Deepotsav commemorates the return of Lord Rama after 14 years of exile and his victory over the demon king Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The festival is also a cultural spectacle featuring Ram Leela performances, devotional music, drone shows, light and sound displays, and fireworks.
Key preparations for making Deepotsav 2025 the grandest edition ever have been meticulously completed. The Municipal Corporation of Ayodhya, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, has rolled out extensive urban beautification and cleanliness drives, new horticulture projects, upgraded infrastructure, floral decorations, and improved sanitation across the city.
