From Rides to Meals: Rapido Targets Swiggy-Zomato Market Share

Rapido, the bike-taxi company, is said to be in talks to go into the food delivery business with plans to disrupt the monopoly of Swiggy and Zomato. Top executives are talking to restaurant owners to come up with a cost-effective business model focusing on high commission rates by current players. Rapido, which already delivers for Swiggy, is using its large two-wheeler fleet and growing its reach across 500 cities in India this year. Although plans are in preliminary stages, the company wishes to expand its offerings and benefit from its expanding logistics network.
