Golden Jubilee Glory! Dhawan Celebrates 50 Years of Wankhede Stadium

As Wankhede Stadium celebrates its 50th anniversary, Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan paid an emotional tribute, reminiscing about the stadium’s electrifying atmosphere. Sharing an aerial view and a video of himself performing his signature thigh-five gesture, he wrote, "India, India ki awaaz... Wankhede ki hawa mein aaj bhi woh josh hai!"

 

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has planned a grand celebration on January 19, 2025, featuring performances by Ajay-Atul and Avadhoot Gupte, a laser show, and the release of a commemorative coffee table book and postal stamp. Wankhede, inaugurated in 1974, has witnessed legendary cricketing moments, including India’s 2011 World Cup triumph and Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell match in 2013. Cricket greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and Ravi Shastri are expected to attend.
