Gujarat’s Night Sky Awaits: Experience the Awe of the November Supermoon with (The Gujarat Council on Science and Technology) GUJCOST

The Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Gandhinagar, is set to conduct a series of 'Supermoon Watch' programs between November 4 and 6 at Regional Science Centres (RSCs) and Community Science Centres (CSCs) throughout Gujarat. This initiative aims to engage the public in observing and learning about the rare celestial event known as the Supermoon.

On November 5, the Moon will appear approximately 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual as it reaches its closest point to Earth at about 357,000 kilometers. This full moon, scientifically termed a perigee-syzygy, is part of a rare sequence of four consecutive Supermoons visible from October 2025 to January 2026, captivating skywatchers with its grandeur.

Besides providing a breathtaking view, the event offers educational insights into the Earth-Moon-Sun dynamics and related phenomena like slightly stronger perigean spring tides, with minimal impact on daily life.

GUJCOST encourages participation from all age groups and astronomy enthusiasts to experience this cosmic spectacle, fostering science awareness and community engagement.
