Harmanpreet Singh and Savita Punia Crowned Hockey India's Players of the Year

India's hockey heroes, Harmanpreet Singh and Savita Punia, were awarded the prestigious Hockey India Balbir Singh Senior Player of the Year awards in the men's and women's categories, respectively. Harmanpreet captained India to a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, whereas Savita was part of the Indian women's team that missed a bronze at the Tokyo Olympics by a narrow margin. Savita also received the Hockey India Baljit Singh Goalkeeper of the Year award for 2024, her third time. The function commemorating 100 years of Indian hockey gave the 1975 Men's World Cup champions the Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries such as former sports minister Kiren Rijiju and Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey.
