The agreement was announced on January 15, 2025. It contains a step-by-step procedure for the release of hostages and Palestinian detainees. The first stage is six weeks long. In this period, 33 Israeli captives will be released against the exchange for about 1,000 Palestinian detainees. This is an important step toward peace in the region. Already, humanitarian efforts have increased, and this ceasefire will permit aid to enter Gaza to help the besieged population there. The deal will be implemented in a couple of days, reports quoted the Israeli cabinet saying that it would pass last-stage approvals on Sunday.
