Hyundai, Mahindra, Toyota Ride SUV Wave As Auto Sales Boom Across India

Maruti Suzuki Sets Record

Maruti Suzuki sold 242,688 units in May 2026, including 193,535 domestic units, marking its highest-ever monthly performance. SUVs and small cars contributed significantly, while exports reached 41,914 units. The company also reported record CNG vehicle sales of nearly 78,000 units, reflecting strong demand despite rising fuel prices. 

Hyundai Maintains Momentum

Hyundai Motor India registered 47,837 domestic sales, up 9.1% year-on-year, with total sales including exports at 61,137 units. The company highlighted a 13% rise in domestic sales during April–May FY27, compared to the same period last year. SUVs like the Creta and Venue continued to drive volumes. 

Mahindra’s Strong Growth

Mahindra & Mahindra reported 99,636 total vehicles sold, including 58,021 domestic SUVs and 24,079 commercial vehicles, marking a 20% overall growth. Its farm equipment division also grew 23% year-on-year, selling 47,845 tractors. Supply chain challenges remain, but demand across SUVs like Scorpio, Thar, and XUV models is robust. 

Toyota’s Steady Gains

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 33,128 units, up 7% year-on-year, with 30,574 domestic units. The company’s SUV lineup, including the Hyryder and Fortuner, continues to support growth. 

Tata And Kia Expand Market Share

Tata Motors retained second place with 59,090 units, a 42.2% YoY growth, supported by strong EV sales crossing 10,000 units for the first time. Kia India sold 27,586 units, marking a 23.6% YoY growth, its best May performance ever.
