Kevan Parekh Highlights India’s Expanding Developer Ecosystem And Double-Digit iPhone Growth

Kevan Parekh emphasized that India is central to Apple’s global growth strategy. Despite being a highly price-sensitive market, Apple has seen double-digit iPhone growth, with the iPhone 16 becoming the highest-shipped smartphone in India for three consecutive quarters. Apple’s retail expansion, including flagship stores in Mumbai and Delhi, has further strengthened its presence. 

App Store Ecosystem

The App Store in India facilitated ₹44,447 crore in billings and sales in 2024, reflecting the country’s digital maturity. Developers continue to build for iOS despite Android’s dominance, driven by Apple’s global reach and monetization opportunities. Parekh noted that India’s developer community is growing alongside the user base, creating a “flywheel effect” where more users attract more apps. 

Supporting Developers And Students

Apple is investing in student developer programs, coding workshops, and creator initiatives to nurture the next generation of talent. Parekh highlighted that Apple sees India not just as a consumer market but as a hub for innovation, with developers contributing to global app success stories. 

Investment Strategy

Parekh confirmed Apple will “invest across the board” in India, expanding beyond tier-one cities into tier-two and tier-three markets. This includes strengthening retail coverage, enhancing localized services, and supporting affordability by keeping prior iPhone generations on sale as value options.
