Crowd Control Mode ON: Indian Railways’ Bold Move to Limit Platform Access

In order to address severe overcrowding, Indian Railways has now restricted access to platforms in 60 major stations, including Bengaluru, by permitting only passengers holding confirmed reserved tickets. The meeting convened by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw focused on issues of congestion that have surfaced in recent times. Passengers without confirmed tickets shall await in designated areas outside the station, while entry points with no permission shall be sealed by authorities. Piloting started at New Delhi, Anand Vihar, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Patna stations. Furthermore, the Railways is designing wider foot overbridges with ramps to facilitate the movement of crowds.
