It is a phase of declining share prices or sideways movement in a specific range. The report highlights the impact of increasing U.S. interest rates, persistent inflation, and vagueness of Trump's policies as the key drivers. Japan's likely shift towards increasing rates after a stretch of four decades of easy money policy is also highlighted. Despite the recent corrections in curbing big-cap valuations, Motilal Oswal is hopeful about sectors like IT, healthcare, and BFSI. The company recommends being in an overweight position in big-cap stocks and selectively investing in mid and small-caps.
