India's Agricultural Sector Set to Soar: Record Foodgrain Production and Strategic Initiatives for Pulses

India's agricultural sector is set to achieve record foodgrain production of 164.7 million tonnes for the 2024-25 crop year, driven by favorable monsoon conditions. However, pulses production is facing challenges, with a projected output of 6.9 million tonnes, slightly below last year's figures and the lowest in nine years. The government is responding to rising import levels, which doubled to 6.63 million tonnes in 2024, by implementing measures to support domestic production and stabilize prices. These developments reflect the ongoing efforts to enhance food security and agricultural resilience in India.
