India's Biotech Revolution: From Startups to Global Leadership

India has emerged as a global biotech superpower, and Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh brought forth the spotlight to India's stupendous achievement. From a mere 50 in 2014, biotech start-ups have ballooned to close to 9,000 currently, establishing India as an innovation capital of the world. India has emerged third in the Asia-Pacific region and 12th internationally in terms of bio-manufacturing. This expansion is fuelled by the government's BioE3 initiative, with biomanufacturing and bio-foundries as a priority. The bioeconomy of India has grown from $10 billion in 2014 to more than $130 billion in 2024, reaching an estimated $300 billion in 2030, ushering in a new era of sustainable development and biotechnology.
