India’s Union Budget 2025 has set an ambitious target of achieving 100 GW of nuclear energy capacity by 2047, marking a pivotal shift in the nation's energy strategy. With ₹20,000 crore allocated for Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) and amendments to the Atomic Energy Act to encourage private sector participation, companies like Tata Power and Jindal Nuclear are stepping up. Jindal plans to invest ₹1.8 lakh crore for 18 GW capacity, signaling robust private involvement in India’s low-carbon future.
