Johannesburg's Skyline to be Adorned by Southern Hemisphere's Largest Hindu Temple

The BAPS Hindu Mandir and Cultural Complex, set to become the southern hemisphere's largest Hindu temple, is slated to open its doors in Johannesburg by 2027. Spanning 37,000 square meters in the Northriding locality, this architectural marvel blends African and Indian heritage. The complex includes a traditional temple and a 32,000 square meter cultural center, designed to be a hub for multicultural exchange and interreligious dialogue. With the first phase nearly complete, this ambitious project is expected to boost tourism and the local economy while showcasing the resilience of South Africa's Indian community.
