Kenya's Tourism Jackpot: 2.4M Visitors Fuel Economic Boom in 2024

Kenya's tourism sector hit an all-time high in 2024 when it received a record 2.4 million foreigners, up by 15% compared to 2023. Tourism receipts climbed to Ksh452.20 billion, an increase of 19.79% compared to 2023. The United States led as the destination source market, followed by Uganda and Tanzania. Domestic tourism also prospered with bed night occupancy climbing by 12%. Tourism and Wildlife CS Rebecca Miano had put this achievement down to strategic interventions such as aggressive promotion, diversification of products, and enhanced air access. In the future, Kenya is targeting 3 million visitors in 2025, who may rake in Ksh560 billion in earnings for tourism.
