L'Oréal's $160M Beauty Brainiac: Where Lab Coats Meet Lipstick and Science Gets Glamorous

L'Oréal Groupe has opened its new, cutting-edge $160 million Research & Innovation Center in Clark, New Jersey. The 250,000-square-foot building, L'Oréal's biggest outside France, will have more than 600 scientists and researchers on staff. With a 26,000-square-foot modular lab and consumer testing center, the center will focus on pushing innovation for American beauty brands Maybelline and CeraVe. With sustainability in mind, from 10,000 solar panels covering 70% of energy requirements, the center is L'Oréal's dedication to the U.S. market and sustainable beauty solutions. Operations began in full in February 2025, a milestone in L'Oréal's 70-year history in the U.S.
