Mahindra Shifts Gears :Hyundai Takes a Backseat

In a dramatic reversal, Mahindra & Mahindra has surpassed Hyundai Motor India to emerge as the second-largest carmaker in India for February 2025. Mahindra's domestic sales jumped to 50,420 units, up an impressive 19% year-on-year. Hyundai's domestic sales, on the other hand, fell 4% to 47,727 units. This change is overwhelmingly due to the robust SUV product portfolio of Mahindra, with new product launches such as the XUV700, Scorpio N, and electric ones BE 6 and XEV 9e. Even amid this domestic market disruption, Hyundai holds its cumulative second position taking exports into consideration. This fact marks a decisive turn in the Indian auto business, upturning traditional marketplace dynamics.
