Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Charging Ahead into India's EV Future

Maruti Suzuki has officially opened pre-bookings for its first-ever electric vehicle, the e Vitara, signaling its imminent launch. This electric SUV, showcased in its production-ready form at the Auto Expo 2025, is expected to hit showrooms by May 2025. As the country's largest automaker, Maruti Suzuki is making a bold entry into the EV segment, aiming to redefine the market with its innovative offering.

The e Vitara will be available in three variants—Delta, Zeta, and Alpha—offering two battery pack options. The Delta variant features a 48.8 kWh battery, while the Zeta and Alpha variants come equipped with a larger 61.1 kWh battery pack. All variants support 7 kW AC charging and 70 kW DC fast charging, ensuring convenience for users. The SUV boasts a range exceeding 500 km, making it a strong contender in the electric vehicle market.

Designed with premium features, the e Vitara includes Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a panoramic glass roof, a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, and a 360-degree surround-view camera. It also offers a sliding and reclining second row, ambient lighting, and seven airbags, ensuring both comfort and safety.

Maruti Suzuki plans to sell the e Vitara through its premium Nexa retail network, targeting a top-down approach in the Indian EV market. The SUV will compete with rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Nexon EV, among others. With this launch, Maruti Suzuki aims to establish itself as a leader in the electric vehicle segment, despite being a late entrant.
