Mic Drop Moment: PM Modi Makes Farmers the Headliners at 11-Year Mark

As the NDA government completes 11 years in power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed his commitment to India’s farmers, highlighting key initiatives that have transformed the agricultural sector.

Major Achievements in Agriculture
The government has significantly increased Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for key crops, ensuring better returns for farmers.

Wheat MSP rose from ₹1,400 per quintal in 2013–14 to ₹2,425 per quintal in 2024–25, benefiting millions of wheat growers.

Paddy MSP increased from ₹1,310 per quintal in 2013–14 to ₹2,369 per quintal in 2025–26, leading to higher earnings for paddy farmers.

Over ₹6.04 lakh crore has been disbursed as MSP payments for wheat between 2014 and 2024, compared to ₹2.2 lakh crore in the previous decade.

Boost in Procurement and Farmer Welfare
The procurement of 14 kharif crops reached 7,871 lakh metric tonnes between 2014–25, compared to 4,679 LMT in the previous decade.

Paddy procurement surged to 7,608 LMT in the last 11 years, with ₹14.16 lakh crore paid to farmers.

The pulses sector witnessed a 7,350% increase in procurement, reducing import dependency and stabilizing consumer prices.

Oilseeds procurement at MSP rose by over 1,500%, reflecting strong government support.

Financial and Infrastructure Support
The PM-Kisan scheme has provided direct income support to millions of farmers, ensuring financial stability.

The crop insurance scheme has insured over 23 crore farmers, disbursing claims worth ₹1.75 lakh crore.

Agricultural credit has jumped from ₹7.3 lakh crore in 2013–14 to ₹27.5 lakh crore in 2025, making affordable finance accessible to small farmers.

Investments in irrigation and soil health have improved productivity and sustainability in farming.

Future Commitments
PM Modi assured that the government will continue strengthening farmer welfare programs, focusing on modern infrastructure, global market access, and sustainable agricultural practices. He emphasized that the transformation of India’s farm sector will remain a top priority in the coming years.
