Modi’s Two-Day Bhutan Visit: Unveiling a Hydro Power Marvel and Strengthening Himalayan Ties

Starting November 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a significant two-day state visit to Bhutan. A highlight of his visit is the inauguration of the 1,020-megawatt Punatsangchhu-II Hydroelectric Project— a landmark venture jointly developed by India and Bhutan that underscores deep cooperation in sustainable energy and regional development.

Alongside Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, PM Modi will mark this milestone fostering mutual trust and economic partnership pivotal for both nations' growth. The project harnesses the flow of the Punatsangchhu river, promising enhanced electricity generation contributing to Bhutan’s export capacity while supporting India’s renewable energy goals.
