Most Nations Miss UN Deadline for 2035 Climate Pledges

Around 95% of countries have missed the February 10, 2025 UN deadline to submit new climate pledges for 2035, according to Carbon Brief analysis. Only 10 of the 195 parties to the Paris Agreement, including the US, UK, and Brazil, have published their new emissions-cutting plans. Major polluters like China, India, and the EU are notably absent. The missing countries represent 83% of global emissions and nearly 80% of the world's economy. UN climate chief Simon Stiell urged nations to submit "first-rate" plans by September to be included in the UN's global assessment ahead of the COP30 summit in Brazil this November.
