Myanmar Leader Expected to Join BIMSTEC Summit Amid Regional Challenges

The Thai Foreign Ministry has announced that Myanmar's junta leader, Min Aung Hlaing, is expected to attend the BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. This gathering of leaders from the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) comes at a critical time for the region.

The summit, scheduled from April 2 to April 4, will focus on enhancing cooperation among member nations, including Thailand, Myanmar, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan. Despite recent challenges, such as the devastating earthquake in Myanmar, the junta leader's participation underscores the importance of regional collaboration in addressing shared concerns.
