New ABS Frontier: Supreme Petrochem Powers Up 70,000 TPA Capacity with Italian Expertise

Supreme Petrochem Limited (SPL) has officially commenced production of its first Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) project line with an installed capacity of 70,000 tons per annum (TPA) at its Amdoshi plant in Nagothane, Maharashtra, starting September 25, 2025. This marks a significant milestone in SPL’s expansion into the ABS segment, supported technically by Versalis, an ENI Group company from Italy.

Key Highlights of the ABS Project Commissioning:

- Plant Location and Capacity  
  The ABS project is located within SPL’s sprawling Amdoshi facility near Nagothane, Maharashtra. The initial phase involves one line with a 70,000 TPA capacity, with provisions for a second line of equal capacity planned for future expansion.

- Advanced Technology and Process  
  The production line uses continuous mass polymerization technology licensed from Versalis, known for its energy efficiency and low environmental impact through minimal emissions and effluent production. This environmentally friendly process ensures the ABS produced is odour-free with low volatiles, high whiteness index, and low gel count, making it ideal for technical applications such as automobile interiors.

- Strategic Importance for SPL  
  This commissioning diversifies SPL’s product portfolio beyond polystyrene and expandable polystyrene (EPS), positioning it strongly in the high-demand engineering thermoplastics market. The ABS compound produced enhances safety and quality standards for end-user industries focusing on durable and aesthetic plastic components.
