Today, Grasim Industries announced that it exceeded a 10% revenue market share in the organized decorative paints segment, for the fourth quarter of FY25, after merging revenue pursuant to its leading paints brand, Birla Opus, and its leading putty brand, Birla White Putty. This timeline is significant for the Indian company. Birla Opus was only launched in February 2024, and within the 4th quarter (Q4) revenue run-rate for FY25, it has already attained the position of the third-largest decorative paints brand in India, in terms of revenue.
Grasim's success in paints was one of the contributors to record quarterly consolidated revenue of ₹44,267 crore, which was a 17% increase on the previous year. The company stated that the swift expansion of its paints business, alongside growth in cement and chemicals, was fundamental to this result. Of the six planned Birla Opus plants, five are currently online, with the sixth expected to be operational in the first half of FY26. The brand has over 1,250 SKUs and has also developed a footprint in over 6,600 towns and cities across India.
Grasim's management team laid emphasis that the rapid scaling of Birla Opus and the Birla White Putty revenues showcases that very strong new growth engines have been formed, which will enable Grasim to be in line with India's aspiration for development.
