Travelers faced major disruptions today as both Air India and IndiGo announced the cancellation of flights to multiple northern and western Indian cities, citing heightened security concerns following recent India-Pakistan tensions.
Key highlights
Air India has cancelled all flights to and from Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot for Tuesday, May 13. The airline emphasized that passenger safety is the top priority and is closely monitoring the situation for further updates.
IndiGo has suspended flights to and from Jammu, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Leh, Srinagar, and Rajkot for the same day. The airline urged passengers to check their flight status online before heading to the airport and offered support through its customer service channels.
These cancellations come just hours after civilian operations resumed at several of the affected airports, which had been temporarily closed since May 7 due to escalating military tensions and airspace restrictions along the India-Pakistan border.
The Airports Authority of India had reopened 32 airports across the region on Monday morning following a ceasefire, but the renewed cancellations reflect ongoing precautionary measures amid continued security uncertainty.
Both airlines expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured travelers that they are actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as circumstances evolve.
