They called for similar spectrum pricing in a bid to avert market distortion, to state that satellite operators providing broadband services in urban areas must do so under a similar licensing and fee regime as terrestrial telecom operators. While the government prefers spectrum allocation by administrative means: conforming with the global standard; Ambani and Mittal have advocated for auctions to guarantee a level playing field in this burgeoning sector.
