Adivasi students across India are preparing on June 21, International Yoga Day, to set a new world record by taking part along with millions of others in a country-wide yoga fest. It is part of Andhra Pradesh's larger movement, with the state attempting to mobilize five lakh participants in Visakhapatnam alone, receiving massive participation by students, women, and self-help groups.
Key Highlights:
• Andhra Pradesh is attempting a Guinness World Record with more than five lakh people doing one yoga session together at Visakhapatnam, where Adivasi students take center stage.
• The campaign has registered more than 1.77 crore registrations in the state already, with unprecedented enthusiasm for yoga and well-being.
• Yoga practice and awareness camps are organized in every village and school, facilitating grassroots reach and participation. The session also falls under the overall umbrella "Yoga for One Earth, One Health" theme, which promotes integrated well-being and unity.
• Outlook: Through careful organization and mass involvement of the population, Adivasi students are set to enable India to create a new world record in yoga practice involvement. That they are doing this testifies to the expanding scope of wellness initiatives and to the strength of numbers in creating a healthier, more inclusive tomorrow.
