In a significant step towards environmental sustainability and global solidarity, the Embassy of India in Kuwait, in collaboration with UN-Habitat, organized a large-scale tree plantation drive at the Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Natural Reserve on May 3, 2025. This initiative is part of the worldwide “Plant for Mother (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam)” campaign, inspired by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to honor mothers by planting trees, and has already seen over 1.4 billion saplings planted globally.

The guests planted indigenous saplings like Rhanterium epapposum, Calligonum comosum, and Acacia gerrardii.
Every sapling was labeled with a placard inscribed with the name of the participant's mother, representing love, appreciation, and the role of mothers as nurturers.

The "Plant for Mother" campaign has led to the planting of more than 1.4 billion trees globally, galvanizing communities and leaders from continents to act on climate change.
The program promotes shared responsibility for safeguarding the environment and fighting climate change.

The activity sought to create awareness about the environment and encourage both Kuwaiti nationals and expatriate communities to be involved in environmental protection.
