Cannes Calling: Ishaan, Janhvi, and Ghaywan’s Red Carpet Rendezvous Lights Up the Riviera

It was a night of pride and emotion for Indian cinema at Cannes 2025 as Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor, and director Neeraj Ghaywan walked the red carpet before the world premiere of Homebound in the glitzy Un Certain Regard section. The film, also starring Vishal Jethwa and directed by Karan Johar with executive producer Martin Scorsese, received a deafening 9-minute standing ovation from a packed house of international spectators—a tribute to its wide appeal and gripping storyline.

 

Janhvi Kapoor dazzled in a bespoke blush pink Tarun Tahiliani, and Ishaan Khatter opted for a plush velvet bandhgala, making their red carpet reunion one of the evening's biggest highlights for fans. The entire team, from Karan Johar to Neeraj Ghaywan, looked visibly teary-eyed, hugging each other with tears in the hall.

 

Homebound is a tale of two North Indian village childhood friends who strive to become police officers in the hope of achieving dignity, only to have their friendship tested by growing desperation. The Cannes reception of the film is a milestone for Indian cinema worldwide.
