In the limelight on the international stage, India's communication sector success made headlines at the 'Strategic Communications' conference in Moscow. Speaking at the plenary session, India's Ambassador to Russia, Vinay Kumar, highlighted the revolutionary effect of new-age technologies on communication and pointed to India's accelerated advancements in the digital age.
Major announcements and highlights:
Ambassador Kumar highlighted the center-stage role of communication in human society and elaborated on how India's industry has transformed in the digital era, citing the recent WAVES 2025 summit—a global forum for creativity and digital connectivity held in Mumbai. The conference places India as a leading media hub for media, entertainment, and digital innovation.
The event, held by Russia's Association of Consulting Companies in Public Relations with the support of the government, enabled a platform for discussions on changing communication standards, value-based approaches, and the control of information across political and ideological lines.
Kumar also discussed possibilities of further collaboration between Indian and Russian communications sectors such as that between content creators, influencers, and strategic communications specialists.
Technologically, India is set for the globe's quickest deployment of satellite-based communications services. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the nation's new satcom policy could grow the sector from a $2.3 billion industry to $20 billion by 2028, narrowing the digital divide in rural regions and supporting India's record-speed 5G rollout.
Policy developments, such as the administrative reallocation of satcom spectrum, are likely to provide opportunities for commercial services across the country, complementing India's quest to emerge as a world leader in digital connectivity.
