Cannes Film Festival's popular Cannes Classics strand has revealed its 2025 lineup, declaring Quentin Tarantino Guest of Honor for the year. The acclaimed director of strong cinephilia and Palme d'Or-winning Pulp Fiction will honor American director George Sherman by screening two of Sherman's highlights Universal Pictures westerns, Red Canyon and Comanche Territory. Tarantino will also sit down with critic and documentarian Elvis Mitchell for a comprehensive discussion of Sherman's legacy and impact on the Western genre.

This year's schedule is full of cinematic landmarks. The festival begins with a restored 4K print of Charlie Chaplin's The Gold Rush, celebrating its 100th anniversary. Other anniversary events include a 25th-anniversary screening of Alejandro G. Iñárritu's Amores perros, with the director present, and a 50th-anniversary salute to Milos Forman's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

The lineup is rounded out with a documentary film on Shia LaBeouf's acting academy, a farewell to the recently departed David Lynch with the local premiere of David Lynch: Welcome to Hollywood, and Mariska Hargitay's first foray at directing, My Mom Jayne, as she tries to reunite with her deceased mother, Jayne Mansfield. Fully restored classics of John Woo's (Hard Boiled), Satyajit Ray, Mikio Naruse, and several others complete the varied lineup.

The 2025 Cannes Classics schedule guarantees a colorful celebration of cinema history, restoration, and discovery from May 13 to 24.
