Cricket fans were left in stitches during the County Championship match at Old Trafford as Lancashire's Tom Bailey unintentionally dropped his mobile phone on the field while going for a quick two against Gloucestershire. Batting at number 10, Bailey was so focused on nudging Lancashire's total that he did not realize his phone was still in his pocket. When he made the turn for the second run, the phone dropped out, much to the amusement of commentators and spectators.
Gloucestershire's Josh Shaw picked up the device, and the incident immediately went viral, causing laughter and light-hearted teasing in the commentary box and on social media. While Bailey was still unbeaten on 22, the slip-up had eyebrows raised about match regulations, as players are not supposed to bring phones on the field. The comical error has since become an instant classic in cricket's collection of on-field eccentricities.
