The Central government has launched a new initiative to issue Aadhaar-like unique identification cards to farmers, aiming to streamline agricultural data and enhance access to government schemes. The *Farmer Unique Number* will serve as a digital identity, linking land ownership details with Aadhaar to create a centralized registry.

Key Features of the Farmer ID
- The 11-digit identification number will be assigned to every registered farmer, ensuring seamless integration with government welfare programs
- Agricultural extension officers will visit villages to facilitate registration, allowing farmers to link their land records with Aadhaar through online platforms or Meeseva centers
- The initiative is designed to digitize the agricultural sector, providing policymakers with accurate farmer-wise crop details and ownership records

Implementation and Benefits
- The registry will be based on existing land ownership data from state revenue departments, ensuring transparency without altering ownership rights
- Farmers will gain easier access to subsidies, crop insurance, and financial assistance through direct linkage with government schemes
- The initiative is expected to improve agricultural planning, reduce fraud, and enhance efficiency in resource allocation

Future Outlook
- The government has urged farmers to complete registration by May 6 to ensure timely inclusion in the database
- Officials emphasize that the program is independent of state-level schemes such as Rythu Bharosa and loan waivers
- As the digital registry expands, it is expected to play a crucial role in modernizing India’s agricultural landscape
