The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom (H&H) in Kashmir, in partnership with NIFT Srinagar, recently organized an engaging one-day Capacity Building Workshop focused on Packaging & Branding as part of the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative. This event, held in Srinagar, attracted over 100 enthusiastic local artisans, entrepreneurs, and MSME stakeholders, all eager to sharpen their skills in modern branding and packaging techniques.

With Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, presiding over the workshop, participants enjoyed expert-led sessions that covered innovative packaging, market integration, and how to use digital platforms to enhance the visibility of Kashmir’s artisanal products. Officials from the District Administration and the Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom highlighted the need to merge traditional craftsmanship with modern marketing strategies to reach broader markets while preserving the region's cultural heritage.

The RAMP initiative, a key program from the Ministry of MSME backed by the World Bank, aims to bolster the MSME ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir by equipping artisans and entrepreneurs with essential business skills. This workshop represents a crucial step in empowering local talent to compete on a global scale while maintaining the rich artisanal legacy of the region.
