Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, R. Alice Vaz has launched 'Aagaz-e-Voting' with a view to ensure maximum voter participation in the Delhi Assembly elections set for February 5. The drive was held in Central Park, Connaught Place, where the Nizami Brothers performed a mesmerizing song.
In all, 13,033 polling stations across 2,697 locations in the capital city would cater to close to 1.55 crore registered voters, with each booth capable of dealing with a maximum of 1,500 electors. More than that, there are as many as 70 women-managed 'Pink Booths', and 70 polling stations under Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
All polling stations will have 100% webcasting to ensure transparency. This campaign is part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program, and Delhiites are being encouraged to exercise their democratic right. CEO Vaz said, "Let us celebrate democracy by making informed voting choices."
With strong arrangements in place, Delhi is all set to break all previous records of voter turnout this election season.
