In a move set to delight pilgrims and boost regional connectivity, the Ministry of Railways has announced a new weekly express train service between Chikkamagaluru and Tirupati. The long-awaited rail link will bridge Karnataka’s coffee capital with one of India’s most revered pilgrimage destinations, offering a faster, more comfortable alternative to the current 12–14 hour road journey.

- The train will operate weekly, with plans to increase frequency to thrice a week in the future
- Train number 17423 will depart Tirupati every Thursday at 9:00 PM and reach Chikkamagaluru by Friday 10:30 AM
- Return service 17424 will leave Chikkamagaluru on Friday at 5:30 PM and arrive in Tirupati by Saturday 7:40 AM
- The route will pass through major junctions including Bengaluru, Tumakuru, and Kadur, enhancing accessibility for multiple districts
