Tata Elxsi, a world leader in technology and design services, and Infineon Technologies, a top semiconductor solutions provider, have signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-development of application-ready electric vehicle (EV) solutions for the Indian market. This strategic alliance will promote the adoption of cost-optimized, automotive-grade, and safety-compliant subsystems in India's rapidly growing EV ecosystem in two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger cars, and commercial vehicles.
Key Highlights
Complete EV Solutions: The partnership will be focused on plug-and-play EV solutions including high-voltage traction and auxiliary system inverters, scalable battery management systems (BMS), bi-directional onboard chargers, and high-end thermal management systems.
Advanced Technology: Infineon will provide early access to its latest semiconductor technologies, such as silicon carbide (SiC)-based solutions, microcontrollers, and integrated circuits, to Tata Elxsi based on its design, system integration, and validation strengths.
Safety and Compliance: The collaboration is tailored to deliver subsystems that meet high Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D) standards, offering the utmost safety and reliability according to ISO 26262.
Scaling up India's EV Aspirations: This step is in line with country ambitions like 80% of two- and three-wheelers and 70% of commercial vehicles being electric by 2030 as envisioned by NITI Aayog.
Future-Ready Vision: Along with current vehicle segments, the partnership sees opportunities for growth in new emerging businesses like eVTOL, energy, and off-highway markets.
Industry Impact: The alliance will decrease turnaround time for ready-to-solution offerings, enabling OEMs and suppliers to drive EV adoption and innovation in India.
"This MoU takes our partnership a step further by providing a more defined scope and a stricter system-level alignment with the capacity to offer quicker turnaround times to meet Indian market demands," stated Nambi Ganesh, Head of Automotive, Tata Elxsi.
