The Federal Government of Nigeria has established an inter-agency task force to fast-track the payment of conditional cash transfers to 15 million vulnerable households, addressing delays and unlocking bottlenecks in the process. The task force includes key agencies like NIMC, NASSCO, NCTO, CBN, and NIBSS, with the goal of expanding financial inclusion and widening crucial support under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda. Each family will receive ₦75,000 for a period of three months, and the initiative forms part of an expanded economic and social protection package. Officials emphasize that digital identity and harmonized data management would facilitate efficient, transparent disbursement and would lift millions of people out of poverty. The move follows calls by international institutions like the IMF and World Bank for Nigeria to increase support to its poorest citizens as it implements ongoing economic reforms.
