ArcelorMittal has commenced clean energy supply to its Indian joint venture, AM/NS India-a 60:40 joint venture with Nippon Steel-from a newly commissioned 1 GW hybrid wind and solar plant in Andhra Pradesh. Commissioned by AM Green Energy and constructed and operated by the latter, this $700 million project is one of India's fastest large-scale renewables builds, constructed in 18 months. The facility has 1.5 million solar panels and 91 wind turbines spread across 3,100 acres, and a hydro pumped storage plant to be operational by June 2025, with a minimum of 250 MW power round the clock for steelmaking.

The project will meet over 20% of AM/NS India's energy needs at its Hazira facility and cut its carbon emissions by 1.5 million tonnes annually, enabling the JV to record a 20% CO₂ intensity reduction by 2030. CEO Aditya Mittal also welcomed the project as a milestone in ArcelorMittal's global decarbonization plan.
